GLOVE PROTECTION:

The protection offered by disposable Exam Medical gloves, referred to as its barrier effectiveness, is the ability of the gloves to withstand viral penetration. Exam Medical gloves that pass Viral Penetration Tests (ASTM1671D) provide an effective barrier against bloodborne pathogens, as mandated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

Disposable exam medical gloves are the most commonly used type of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) in research laboratories and animal care facilities. According to OSHA, employees are required to use appropriate hand protection (medical gloves) when the employees' hands are potentially exposed to hazards such as harmful substances, severe cuts or lacerations, severe abrasions, punctures, chemical burns, (OSHA 1994c).

UniSeal(R) disposable Exam Medical gloves are manufactured to the highest quality standards in compliance with the U.S. FDA and ASTM requirements. We are committed to producing the highest quality disposable Exam Medical gloves for the protection and comfort of our healthcare professionals.

All SafeCare-Gloves / UniSeal(R) gloves are graded Exam Medical Gloves.

GRADED MEDICAL EXAM GLOVES:

UniSeal(R) Exam Medical gloves are manufactured in accordance with FDA specifications. Exam Medical gloves include latex examination medical gloves and non-latex synthetic exam medical gloves such as Nitrile medical gloves and Vinyl exam medical gloves. These disposable exam medical gloves are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). FDA makes sure that manufacturers of these devices meet performance criteria such as leak resistance, tear resistance, etc.

DON’T BE FOOLED - B GRADE GLOVES:

Also known as off-line gloves or industrial grade gloves. They are not medical grade. These gloves are either made to not meet medical gloves standards in the first place, or they fail in pinhole rates or specifications in quality control, and are downgraded from medical grade to B grade. These gloves are usually labeled as disposable gloves and cannot be labeled as exam gloves, and do not provide barrier protection against Hazardous Materials, Toxic Chemicals, Biological Risks (known and unknown) and other pathogens.

EXAM MEDICAL GLOVES SELECTION

It is also important to select the proper type of disposable exam Medical gloves for each type of use. While all SafeCare-Gloves / UniSeal(R) Exam Medical gloves pass Viral Penetration Tests (ASTM1671D), Exam Medical gloves only maintain effective barrier protection as long as they are intact. Traditional vinyl exam medical gloves have a tensile strength of about 11 MPa and are adequate for most routine nursing procedures. Newer third-generation synthetic vinyl exam medical gloves are softer and stronger, with a tensile strength of 13-15 MPa. These exam medical gloves are an excellent general-purpose option. Latex Exam Medical gloves and Nitrile Exam Medical gloves are even more durable, with tensile strength typically in the range of 17 to 28 MPa and are recommended in applications where exam medical gloves are worn for a longer period of time or exposed to greater stress. Nitrile Exam Medical gloves also have chemical barrier properties that give them an advantage when handling certain drugs or chemicals.
